Hash Generator MD5, SHA-1, SHA-256 & SHA-512

Compute MD5, SHA-1, SHA-256 and SHA-512 digests of any text or file — all four results at once, calculated on your device.

About Hash Generator

A hash takes any input and returns a fixed-length string that is unique to it: MD5 produces 128 bits, SHA-1 160, SHA-256 256 and SHA-512 512. Enter text or pick a file and all four are computed together, so you can check a value against whichever algorithm a system expects. The SHA family uses the browser's built-in SubtleCrypto implementation; MD5 is implemented in this page's own JavaScript because browsers correctly refuse to expose a broken algorithm through the secure API.

Use these digests to verify that a download matches its published checksum, to fingerprint a configuration string, or to compare two files byte for byte. Do not use MD5 or SHA-1 for passwords, tokens or signatures — both are collision-broken and can be attacked at scale; prefer SHA-256 or better, and a dedicated password hashing function such as bcrypt or Argon2 on a server. Nothing you hash is transmitted or stored.
