A drawer of small tools, kept free on purpose.
Tools by tyup is a collection of 25 browser utilities built for the five-minute jobs that otherwise send you to three ads, two signups and a cookie banner.
Friction is the real cost
Most online tools ask for something before they answer a simple question: an account, an email, a subscription, or your patience through a wall of advertising. This project removes all of that. You open a page, the tool is already working, and you leave with your result.
Everything runs on your device
There is no backend. Text, images, numbers and files are processed with native browser capabilities — Canvas for QR codes and image compression, SubtleCrypto for hashing, Intl for timezones, and plain JavaScript for everything else. Whatever you paste into a tool stays in your browser tab.
What is stored locally
Only two things are remembered, both in cookies on your own device: your light or dark theme preference, and the tools you used recently so you can jump back to them. They never leave your browser and you can clear them at any time from your browser settings.
The stack
- Semantic HTML and hand-written CSS — no framework, no build step, no Tailwind, no Bootstrap.
- Vanilla JavaScript for every tool, with two small CDN libraries: qrcodejs for QR rendering and marked.js for Markdown.
- Inter and JetBrains Mono for type, Font Awesome for icons.
- Static hosting, so pages load fast and keep working offline after the first visit.
The person behind it
Tools by tyup is built and maintained by Sukdev Mondal, a front-end developer who builds small, useful things for the open web. You can find his other work on his portfolio, follow him on Twitter (X), or reach him directly at sukdevonline@gmail.com.
