About Image Compressor

The image is read with FileReader, drawn onto a canvas at the requested maximum width, and re-encoded at the quality you choose — all inside the tab. Nothing is transmitted anywhere, so this is safe for screenshots containing credentials, contract scans or product photos you would rather not hand to a free online service.

Quality is the main lever: 75 to 85 is the sweet spot for photographs, where further reductions become visible around edges while saving very little extra bytes. WebP usually lands 25 to 35% smaller than an equivalent JPEG, so try it first for web use; PNG is lossless and only makes sense for flat graphics with sharp text, where JPEG ringing would show. Capping max width is often a bigger win than lowering quality — most pages never need an image wider than 1920 pixels. Always compare the two previews before downloading.
